Course Development
Course Development is one of Learning Design's most critical responsibilities.
Content authors (CAs) work on tight timeframes, often in teams of two or three; sometimes solo. Course development (including course redesign and revision) is closely overseen by one or more representatives of a School, such as a Department Chair or a Program Coordinator. The intent is that each course fits a specific "space" in a program and does a specific "job" in terms of educating students in that program.
The starting point for course development is the creation of the working Course Outcomes. Ideally, the Course and Learner (weekly or lesson) Outcomes flow out of the intended Outcomes not only of the program, but also of the School, the College, and the University. |
